In the book The Origin of Chinese Characters, dreams are explained as "unclear," referring to images that are distant from our daily lives. We dream almost every night, even though we often don't remember them. In psychoanalysis, dreams hold a significant position. During the day, we may wear social masks, suppressing many emotions and thoughts. However, in dreams, we might lower our defence mechanisms, allowing our consciousness to roam freely and our truest desires to flow. Surrealist artists were also inspired by dreams, creating a "space between waking and dreaming" to access their subconscious through this process.
We might also dream collectively. As an extension of surrealist art, ‘dreamcore’ combines dreams, memory, daydreams and nightmares to create a new form of aesthetics.
